RIFT VALLEY ROSSINGTONS
June 2020

Dear friends,

Greetings from Kenya.  It’s only been a few weeks since we were last in touch, but we’re writing again now for a couple of reasons.  Firstly to let you know that prayers were clearly answered in terms of what we shared in our last update.  Martha bravely held it together for her two online exams and gave them her best shot.  Our internet connection played its part too and she did not join the ranks of over 10,000 students who were unable to upload their answers!  We breathed a collective sign of grateful relief and leave the results in the Lord’s hands.

Bruce’s first meeting as Chair of AIM International’s Board was also a positive experience.  The Board Zoomed for 8 hours over two days and got through a fairly ambitious agenda.  The second of the two meetings stretched to five hours with only a five minute break in the middle but nobody complained!

We're also happy to report that there hasn't been any more flooding since we last wrote and that the number of locusts on campus seems to have peaked too!

The other reason for writing again so soon is to let you know that we’ll be flying back to the UK this coming Thursday.  This is a few weeks ahead of our scheduled departure.  The Kenyan Government recently extended its ban on international air travel so we are taking advantage of one of the ‘repatriation’ flights that are being offered by Kenya Airways from time to time.  We plan to return to Kenya around 20th August although, sadly, it's just been confirmed that RVA will be online again next term due to borders remaining closed across most of Africa.

We’ll be spending our time in the UK (including 14 days in quarantine) near family in the Oxfordshire area and are looking forward to seeing Zoe before she (hopefully) heads off to France for the ‘year abroad’ element of her Modern Languages course.  We're also hoping to visit a few universities with Martha.

We’d appreciate prayer for a smooth journey back to the UK.  We will take a mandatory Covid-19 test over the next couple of days and will need a special letter of permission to cross the county border into Nairobi.

With love in Christ,

Bruce and Jan
