What is a Parish Nurse?
A Parish Nurse is a qualified Registered Nurse (registered with the Nursing and midwifery Council and following the professional Code of Conduct) who offers free, confidential support to help people improve their health and wellbeing—physically, emotionally, and (if desired) spiritually.
A parish nurse offers support to everyone, regardless of age, background, or beliefs. You do not need to attend church and parish nurses support all of all faiths or none.
Who we can support:
- Adults, older people, and families
- People living with long-term health conditions
- Those feeling isolated, anxious, or overwhelmed
- Carers who need advice or support
What does a Parish Nurse do?
Parish Nurses focus on the whole person, not just a medical condition. They take time to listen and offer practical, emotional, and (if you choose) spiritual support. Parish nurses can help find the right care and navigate health and social services , support with health goals, stress and anxiety, offer general health advice, education and community clinics, advocate for you, signpost to local services.
Spiritual care, including prayer, is always optional and only offered with your consent.
Please see the Parish Nurse Leaflet for more information.

Everyone has questions about what life is all about. We believe that everyone should have a chance to share those questions, explore the Christian faith and give their point of view.
Alpha is a place where you can ask those questions in an honest, friendly and open environment. We'll be running a course again in the Autumn, but in the meantime, find out more here...
So many people in our community feel the weight of debt, and we are passionate about helping to release anyone we can from a life sentence of debt and poverty. At St Mary's we are working with Christians Against Poverty to bring good news, hope and freedom. If you need support, we'd love to hear from you.
