PICTURE OF THE WEEK: Matthew and Linda working on the craft bag production line
Dear Friends

The summer can seem long, especially when we aren't meeting regularly. Here are some news stories from this week that hopefully make you feel more connected. Wherever you're reading from we pray that you know God's presence with you.

-The Team

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8:1-4

From 1st September, Rebekah will be joining us as our new children's worker.

Rebekah and her husband Kieran met and were married in the Cotswolds, and are very much looking forward to moving back to the area. Rebekah is especially excited to engage with children and families in the church and community.

Rebekah completed her degree in Popular Music and Worship in Coventry as a singer/songwriter, and went on to work in childcare while immersing herself in a family worship ministry. Kieran obtained a masters degree in physics from the University of Surrey and is finishing his PhD.

They are currently house hunting with the hope of moving into the heart of the community and cannot wait to meet you all.

The craft bags have provided so much fun and joy to families during the school closures and over the school holidays. The 19th bag went out recently, and this time the focus was on the mums rather than the children; much-deserved treats, tips and encouragement were distributed to over 200 families.

By the end of the summer we will have packed and distributed 2,500 family craft bags -  what an achievement, and what a team!:

Sunday 30th August at 3pm, is the second of our whole congregation Summer Sessions. This is a chance to get together, worship God, see some familiar faces, and see how church looks and works during this new phase.

It's also an opportunity to bid farewell to Jonny, Katie and Poppy as they move on to new adventures.

As you know, church is a bit more complicated these days, so please click on the button below to remind yourself what you will need to bring with you and how it will all work. We look forward to seeing you!

Last Friday the Church Street Homegroup got together and celebrated seeing each other in person for the first time in all these months. We have been so pleased to be able to continue to meet on Zoom but it was a great joy to meet face to face at last. We weren't daunted by the rain, and with two separate gazebos we circulated between them.

The Mind and Soul Foundation was set up to bridge the gap between mental health and Christian spirituality, believing in a God who loves us and cares about our emotional and mental health.

Drawing on the best of Christian theology and scientific advances, the leadership team consists of a psychologist, a priest and a psychiatrist, and the organisation aims to share the message that our faith and our emotions are both important.

On the website are many short, engaging articles on all aspects of mental health from a Christian perspective - including recent ones exploring the effects of the covid pandemic.
