Congratulations Lorraine

Lorraine explains how she ended up being invited to afternoon tea in the House of Lords!

"Last year I was nominated for the Covid hero award in the Great British Care Award of 2020.

Going to Australia every year, I’ve been through China on a few flights and had been watching the pandemic growing there.

I had offered to move in the care home if it ever became necessary, and I did in March 2020.

I was surprised to find myself shortlisted. Later in the year I had an interview with three judges on Zoom. They wanted to know what made me choose to do this and not stay at home.

I told them that I felt that everything in my life my had led me to this path and that it was God given that it was my time to help. Up until this time I had always wondered what God had in store for me - what he wanted me to do for him, so with my family's blessing and my small group praying for me I went and helped.

I didn’t think anymore about it until I had an email saying I was a finalist. I have been invited to afternoon tea in the House of Lords in July 2021!

This is by Care Talk hosted by Lord Palmer of Childs Hill OBE and the event is being supported by CareTech charitable foundation. I will be meeting other inspirational frontline and care support workers on the day.

So I’m a finalist in the Great British Care Awards Social Care Covid Hero Award.

How amazing is that!"
