Rhema's Fishy Tale is a whopping success
Hannah, Josie and Keziah from Rhema theatre company came to visit us on Sunday 13th June to tell us about their work in schools and to show us 20 minutes of their new production about life with no rules in Nineveh and how God chose an unwilling and unlikely prophet in Jonah. With wonderful music, action and boundless energy we were entranced. This was repeated on the Monday with the full show for St. Mary's school in the morning and Holy Trinity school in the afternoon. We can't thank them enough for their inspiring work and terrific company.
Busby Evening Saturday June 19th 7:30 pm at St. Mary's
As mentioned in this month’s ‘Chippy News’, we are hosting a ‘Busby Evening’ at St. Marys Church, Chipping Norton at 7.30pm on Saturday 19th June.
The event forms a stage in the redevelopment of the church as we bring back together important monuments in the church that were inappropriately relocated during the Victorian refurbishment. Some of these monuments are the pavement memorials of the local Busby family.
This promises to be a fascinating evening; an opportunity to learn about the plans for these ledger stones and to hear some more about the history of the family over a summer-evening drink. Jan Cliffe (of the CN Historical Research Group) will be presenting her exhibition on the Busby family which will form part of the content in her forthcoming book about ‘The Husbandmen of Over Norton’.
All are welcome. If you would like an invitation to this event please ring the Church Office on 646202 or email office@stmaryscnorton.com.

Easter Labyrinth returns
St. Mary's will be hosting another Easter labyrinth in the Church from Monday 29th March to Good Friday 2nd April. We divide the Church into different 'rooms' each of which depicts a scene from the Easter story following Jesus from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. It's amazing to think how much happened in just one week and how the world was changed for ever. Through the use of sound, film, and visual images we create an atmospheric and interactive experience that brings alive the Easter story. We will have schools and children in every morning but the public can access the Labyrinth from 11:30 am onwards to dusk when the church is closed. Free refreshments will be served from 1:00 to 5:00 pm every day. Please do come and visit.
Timings: Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April open 11:30 am to dusk - free refreshments from 1:00 pm till 5:00 pm Maundy Thursday service from 7:30 to 8:30 followed by an opportunity to visit the Labyrinth until 9:30pm. It is very atmospheric at night with the candles lit.
Timings: Good Friday 2nd April open from 9:00 am and closed to be taken down at 4:30 pm. A 1 hour service at noon till 1:00 pm - free refreshments from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm.

Sticky Church get creative
For the last few sessions Sticky Church have been looking at the story of Joseph and his famous coat which they have all had a go at making. We've been thinking about how we get on in families, how to solve arguments without things getting out of hand and how to be caring for each other as well as how God helps us when we face difficulties. We are now starting to think about Easter looking at Palm Sunday and the Last Supper as well as preparing things for the Easter Garden.
Children & Students Celebrating Christmas at St. Mary's
We had lots of young visitors to St. Mary's over the Christmas period. Penhurst School had a special service designed for everyone to join in. See the pictures below and click on an image you wish to enlarge.
St Mary's School Key Stage 1 pupils came to a Sticky Church event where they explored the Christmas Story, watched a cartoon and made a nativity figure for their Christmas tree- great fun was had by all.
